I would be quite happy to allow controlled immigration to people that have jobs lined up or skills that we want and i welcome the Hong Kong and Ukraine refugees with open arms.

What really boils my p!ss is old people not being able to afford to turn on their heating or homeless people living on the streets when we are funding thousands of asylum claimants to live in hotels who've illegally crossed the channel in small boats.

If you watched other news outlets you might find out that it isn't illegal either to cross the channel or to claim asylum in the UK. And that quite a few other European countries take more asylum claimants per capita than we do. Aren't you proud of us for doing our bit?

I’m aware of that argument. However, paying criminals to transport them across the channel to avoid border controls and then fraudulently claiming asylum or people trafficking makes them criminals in my eyes.

homelessness / heating costs is the result of political choice

we could also afford to fund asylum seekers if we wanted to

They can't claim asylum until they cross the border and the majority of them are found to be genuinely eligible for asylum.

Imagine someone who does deserve asylum, should they be refused for taking a boat?

In other news, Mark Steyn might be leaving GB News. Apparently his bio has been scrubbed of any mention of a job there. The current theory is that GBNews think he's too toxic thanks to some of the Ofcom complaints.
