My old GE Profile dryer has stopped working. Every once in a while, when it was working, I would hear a click and once that happened it would stop heating. If I turned it off and waited a little and restarted it would run fine. I have had it not run at all when I turned the start knob but waiting a little it always started. Now its dead completely, The light is on inside the drum so there is power. I was wondering is there a relay or something that causes that click I hear when it stops heating prehaps thats the issue or maybe the start knob? Any ideas would be helpful.

Sounds like it has an automatic overheat stat that was tripping then restting itself but has now failed. Before you replace anything you will need to strip and clean any fluff from the exhaust path

where is this located? I have looked at the schematic online but dont see anything like it.

Don't know if this is your model but if not do another google search
