Well it is looming up on us and in a few months it will be here. We will have politics rammed down our throat morning noon and night. Could we perhaps have a seperate subject for it when it comes or ban it all together?

Well I reckon the run up to the election as already started, on this forum!

Did you hear the news tonight? apparently some areas are holding back council tax bills till after the election because the rises are so much. They must think the electorate are a right thick bunch, cynical s**s.

The media also picked up on how the tories changed the local boundaries to influence the votes in order for them to gain a second term in office let's not forget that. ;)

This isn't done for that reason kendor.

In the area I live Sale (Trafford) very strong Tory area in the past, we were split and half was amalgamated into Wythenshawe which is one of biggest council estates in the country. I can't recall that being anything but Labour. Can't see how the tories would of let that happen if they could of stopped it really, Trafford was always considered one of their jewels.

I thought the boundary commision was non party political, part of the civil service isn't it?

Like all bills Gas electric etc they go up it's expected, nothing to moan about if they are holding back, it gives you longer at the cheaper rate so what's wrong with that? there are no rules to say when the rates should go up so i think you should look on it as a bonus :)
You always get the opposing parties trying to influence voters before a general election I've lived long enough to have seen several changes of government and they all do the same on the run up to an election trying to filter out anything that might sway the uncertain voter but i tend not to let these mind games interfere with my desicion and i look at what a government has achieved over the whole term of office and in my opinion considering the mammoth task that was handed down to labour by the total mismanagement and corruptness of the former tory government that labour have done a good job so they will definitely be getting my vote this election.

Tony Blair 1997 :

Education, Education, Education.

We have 48hrs to save the NHS. (approx 5000 people died from MRSA each year since Labour sacked 50,000 cleaners)

New Labour will get crime rate down.

We will not put income tax up, so I won't tell you about the back door tax

If you're happy what Blair's has done so far then fair enough because I'm not !

If this country was a true democracy, we'd should all be given an opportunity to vote for our leader. I'm sure if this was in place, Bush would never have got in for a second term.

Oh yes I do !

Is that really Gordon Brown or is it a.k.a Gordon Bennet, the man who used to be mentioned when anything went wrong before Gordon Brown stuck his head above the parapet ??
