General Election can we get somethings straight now??

Kendor Said.

nothing to moan about if they are holding back, it gives you longer at the cheaper rate so what's wrong with that? there are no rules to say when the rates should go up so i think you should look on it as a bonus

I think you've misunderstood what I meant mate!

Their only sending the bills out later, and the increases are being backdated. Most people moan about council tax rises so they are doing it to avoid any repercussions at the ballot box. Don't be conned into thinking they are giving you anything!

Actually I do think it is wrong doing this and I would think the same way if the Tories did the same. Central Government is interferring in local matters for their own ends, and it is wrong. Furthermore the councils whilst waiting will probably have to borrow money and pay interest, so you will end up paying that as well.

This isn't done for that reason kendor.

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/geography/boundary_changes.asp#rationale

In the area I live Sale (Trafford) very strong Tory area in the past, we were split and half was amalgamated into Wythenshawe which is one of biggest council estates in the country. I can't recall that being anything but Labour. Can't see how the tories would of let that happen if they could of stopped it really, Trafford was always considered one of their jewels.

I thought the boundary commision was non party political, part of the civil service isn't it?
Like all bills Gas electric etc they go up it's expected, nothing to moan about if they are holding back, it gives you longer at the cheaper rate so what's wrong with that? there are no rules to say when the rates should go up so i think you should look on it as a bonus :)
You always get the opposing parties trying to influence voters before a general election I've lived long enough to have seen several changes of government and they all do the same on the run up to an election trying to filter out anything that might sway the uncertain voter but i tend not to let these mind games interfere with my desicion and i look at what a government has achieved over the whole term of office and in my opinion considering the mammoth task that was handed down to labour by the total mismanagement and corruptness of the former tory government that labour have done a good job so they will definitely be getting my vote this election.

Hello muppet yet again lecturing to us all as too how hard done by you were and how you survived thanks to tony................what a muppet

yes but you are still having a period where you can keep the money in the bank and earn interest on it so it is a bonus.
The tories did the same holding back on announcing "bad news" before the election, it goes on all the time, one of the usual patterns of things that occur just before an election so no big surprises there.

kendor you have again lost the debate by resorting to offensive language. What you fail to understand is nobody is trying to change your mind, however other people reading these posts may be more open minded than you.

You really need to take a good look at your attitude, even avid Labour supporters would find your debating methods somewhat tedious and lacking in substance.

Your style is totally transparent.

Inso far as my debating methods, you seem to think you are always right and that we should all think the same as you whereas i am merely stating my own views on the subject, whether you agree or not is your perogative, I speak from my own experience of life under the tories and labour and so i make my comments based on that.
I don't think i've lost any argument, as you havn't come up with any thing apart from the constant conservative propoganda that is fed to the tory party sponsored parts of the media, that would sway my opinion.

We are all entitled to our opinions and i could say the same of your views that they lack substance and quote only statistics that don't show a clear picture of what is happening. ie the debate on the current state of the NHS is being based by some on their local experience, if i was to use this method of calculating how good it is then i would have to say on the experience of the last couple of times i've been in hospital in recent times that the service was excellent i was treated most efficiently and quickly(no waiting list!)proving only that the service is well managed and run in my area whereas parts of london for instance may suffer and lead their inhabitants to think otherwise, But i know that this is only part of the story and therefore i also realise that statistics can be manipulated and defined to contribute to any parties use, don't believe all you read in the papers and see on the news!
So for you to come out with a statement saying my methods lack substance is merely a throw away comment which anyone myself included could use to try to stifle a contributors views, in doing so you show a form of censorship of others legitimate views.
Besides having an ally in jasy doesn't do a lot for someone's street cred ;)

I once heard Tony say that he wanted all families in Britain to be on an equal footing. So the more well off are taxed heavier etc. Personally I can't wait to get on benfits, have my house paid for, get a new car at the expense of the tax payer etc.

Is this what he meant? :p
