Get your thread in early, or else.

See, the arguments started already.
Anyway the solar flares gone back to the 70`s.

Notes For Guidance 1.

After the OP if you are new or slow off the mark you will have found that the threads after the few early ones soon go "off topic" and degenerate into slagging and or insults. So get your comments in early otherwise you will have to join in and your comments will be meaningless to the OP.

You'll see what I mean shortly.

i thought you were leaving !!

how have you the front to say that......

but on a serious note, are other forums like this? I don't partake anywhere else, but those of you who do, is there a common theme of immigration, police brutality, football? or are we just a sad bunch of grumpy so and so's?

Gerrunt, what's it like on Netmums? ;)

I do. Immigration not so much, but definitely police brutality & football. The difference between here and there is that on there, most things go & the moderators don't lock every thread at the drop of a hat. That said, members don't whine at everything either.

If someone calls you something you just get on with it, or throw equal amounts of abuse back in return (swearing & personal insults allowed). Most of the 'arguments' on here are pretty tame to be honest.

Oh i agree they're tame arguments.... but the point is about the thread being hijacked - should we just accept 2 pages of discussion before spacepuss and Cumbrian argumentative Man start kicking off...

Not really. You get 100+ pages on the topic with very little else, but then again it's a massive forum (in terms of users). The thing is, everyone seems to have respect for each other despite the heated arguments, whereas here some don't seem to have any respect for anyone.

Some of the stuff on there has ended up in Private Eye and some national newspapers. Certain radio DJs and TV presenters also seem to keep an eye on it. ;)

From my internet forum experience the level of bigotry and intolerance is way higher than any other I have been on.

Far be it for me to stereotype but the white van man cliche is alive and kicking here

Pure professional sites and specific hobby sites tend to be far more tollerent IMHO.
Too many "lay experts" here for one.
And of course the obligatory wind up merchants.

what do you mean by "lay expert"?

A person who deems him/her self to be able to make correct concise responces on something he/she knows sod all about.

Lay experts? :?: :?: :?: A quick glance at the bookshelf reveals --

Alex Comfort
Margo Anand
Nitya Lacroix

There's at least two more in there somewhere that I can't remember; but why bother. Time for bed. :p :p :p
