Hi everyone,
I'm in a bit of a bind with my alarm!
I had a texecom premier alarm fitted a few years ago to replace an ancient alarm system in my house. Whilst the engineer I had to fit it is a good guy, he's EXTREMELY difficult to get hold of. Often working long periods away and not responding to calls/texts/emails. My parents also had the same alarm fitted by the same guy.
I only have 'client' type access to the alarm, as in the first pin you enter or fob, so there's limited stuff I can actually do. As I understand it the texecom premier has engineer style access that you can use to get into the other menus, with a separate pin.
I'm not a fan, generally, of not having full access to something running in my house, but equally this has caused a number of problems recently, just as a couple of examples:
1. Parents changed broadband router, alarm couldn't find wifi (obviously), couldn't get in touch wtih engineer after months of trying so I had to manually reconnect it from the SmartCom, but now there are errors i can't clear with the whole Com 1 fault thing, albeit it's now reconnected to wifi.
2. The door sensors on both mine, and my parents alarm, have set the alarm off at a stupid time because there is a known issue with them where low battery reports a tampering fault. I can't replace the sensors as I need lower level access to the alarm to do so.
I'm a fairly competent DIYer and IT professional, so fairly sure I could sort this out if I had the right level of access, but I don't know if there's a way of me 'taking control' of the system without the engineer code. I've repeatedly asked the installer but unable to get any response.
Appreciate any advice or thoughts anyone might have! Thank you
