If you've got an F&E tank in the loft, that is quite the easiest and cheapest way to put X100 in.
For best effect, tie up the ball valve (to prevent refilling with fresh water), open the drain cock downstairs and draw out a couple of a bucketfuls of water or more (this is so that you draw out more water than the F&E contains). Close the drain cock.
go back into the loft, sponge out any sediment, dirt, drowned spiders etc from the F&E. If it is full of fungus or slime you will need to add a biocide after cleaning it and refulling the system.
tip in the X100
untie the ball and stir well to mix it in so that the mixture is drawn down into the system. Some inhibitors are heavy and can lie at the bottom of the F&E if you do not mix them in.
The contents of the F&E will then be drawn down to replace the water you drained out
While you are there adjust the ball so that there is only a couple of inches depth of water in it above the exit pipe. If there is not already a tight-fitting lid and an insulating jacket, measure the tank and make a note to buy and fit them.
