I think 18's a more logical age for being allowed to do most 'adult' things legally for the first time. Up here, the voting age is 16, lowered in 2015/2016 by the SNP as they'll do anything to try and secure more pro-independence voters ... get 'em young.
But you can learn to 'legally' kill someone/encouraged to do so at 16...
But now not marry in England/Wales...
Care to justify that anomaly?
History shows us that younger people have a greater awareness of issues that will affect them, rather than having coffin dodgers impose their rose tinted choices simply because they are envious of the young and don't give a toss about them...
Even the young in their own families!

Personally I think this law is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

is 16 too young to marry, maybe, but I'm guessing sex is still.legal at 16 (not checked it out), so it's not stopping youngsters having children out of a happy family (don't need to be married to be happy with a partner).
can legally rent a house (I believe) too.

I think 18 is too young and the legal limit should be raised to the age of 21.

That does seem to be the idea, although you can go to Scotland or Northern Ireland and get married at 16.
The legal age for consent is 15 in Iceland. No wonder some people keep going there.
