I question if there will be much call for marriage in years to come. I did it to avoid having kids outside of wedlock. 20 years later.. we were two completely different people and we'd grown apart emotionally. It's a complete nightmare to end a long marriage and financially separate.

Went through a very similar experience. We were married about 4 years before the first one popped out.

It was 12 here for marriage not that long ago (in historical terms). Not sure if you could have sex when married at that age.

In my case, it was me who ended it.

Life is too short to be with the wrong person. There is no reason to stay with someone just because you've been with them for 20 years.

I'm not through it yet and it's ridiculously expensive, but there hasn't been a day where I regretted it. I'm sorry for the impact on my kids, I miss the size of my old house. I could have bought a nice super yacht for what I am losing and a decent used supercar instead of legal fees.

But at the end of the day. I wont get back those lost years.
