Hi,

I'm totally new to this forum, but after searching through your site, I've yet to find a thread which solves my query so here goes:

I have a Glow Worm 40/52 boiler [1966] which has a valve that has packed up. Speaking to the repair man who came out to look at it, the valve is rather old and hard to find. This is a direct copy of what it says on the side of the valve:

General Controls by White Rogers
Catalog Number: UB57R1BB224
Plate Number: 0009 E

1/2 PSI Volts/Hz 24/50
Amps .160

6.0" W.C. REG.NAT.GAS
Replaces UK48RBB05

Does anybody have an idea as to where I may be able to locate one of these valves? Or even a modern alternative which could replace it? internet or shop, anything would be a great help!
[I'm based in the Midlands so a trek up to scotland is not something i'd want to be doing!]

I really don't want to replace the boiler just yet, I plan on doing that when I renovate the property in a few years time.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

James

No sorry, its a blue control knob, don't know the colour of the wires; apparently its a Maclaren make, just to add to the confusion of various brands.

Do you know anywhere I might be able to get the valve?

the boiler is 43 yrs old ffs! Get a new one you skinflint!

Lol yep, i am blind! Sorry!

It looks the same, but is it the same i.e. the one with a catalogue number: UB57R1BB224?

Anybody know the 'modern' serial number for this part? Googling that number seems to come up with void results :(
