Evening all,

Have a Glowworm betacom 30 boiler.

It’s rather old now and will more than likely have to look at replacing but need to resolve for now.

However, wondered if someone could give some advice please?

Having high water pressure issues on the heating side but appears to be affecting the hot water also randomly (possibly 3 way valve?)

Changed the expansion vessel to a modern equivalent. Believe pressure is set to 1Bar, this didn’t resolve it, reading up however original EV states 0.5 bar.

Bleeding the rads to lower the pressure, as when operating the heating it’s increasing beyond the 3 bar safety valve and doesn’t appear to reduce the pressure at all. Having to release pressure from the rads to bring it back down to sensible pressures. Always appears to be a tiny bit of air when bleeding.

I have rads isolated upstairs as the AC heats the rooms, so they’re just sitting there.

I did some time back but the stop leak stuff in the system to ensure no weeps are about.

Need to change the PRV within the boiler as this is not letting by when pressure reading high. Also there is an AAV on top of the boiler which may need replacing.

Would it be worth opening all the rads fully, draining down and refilling?

Ensuring no air is trapped.

Basically looking for tips from more experienced guys on here than myself.

Am going to replace the diverter valve as I know these can let by not sending water fully down the right pipe, ensure the EV is set to 0.5bar, replace the PRV and replace the AAV on top of the boiler.

Any help is massively appreciated on how to address the high water pressure issue

Thank you

Could be an EV issue ,or mains water is entering the system.
If central heating is turned off ,does pressure still rise?

EV issue then. Possible blockage causing the EV to be ineffective . Have you checked / measured the EV pressure ?
What do you mean by " changed the expansion vessel to a modern equivalent " ??

Thanks again. I meant that the original model EV was superseded so bought that and fitted it. Confused me as I had the issue before replacing. But will double check. 0.5Bar the manual states so will check that.

Will strip it down and make sure no blockages too
