regarding the tank in loft the vent pipe is right on top of overflow pipe outletNothing much to report from the loft. Small tank with float valve. I couldn't spot anything which may be causing the problem.
are you sure your not mistaking the hot water cylinder for the hot water boiler take a photo for us
