going to London

Don't know about the theatre - but I can recommend a good day out.
Get a boat trip from westminster pier (across the road from big ben) to greenwich -get on one with a commentary. The boats come and go all day long so you can have a full day in greenwich. If you go on a sunday greenwich has an amazing market, theres also whats left of the cutty sark and the maritime museum and the royal observatory. Have a nice day :)

Give the comedy store a try its between piccadily circus and leics square best 15 quid you will spend . Comedians and compare are excellent you will have to book for the 8 o clock show but should have no prob at all walking into the midnight show. They both last 2 hours and the bar is normal prices

Hate London. Go to Rome for a week - you'll love it.

The comedy store is a rip off tourist trap. There are lots of alternative venues listed in Time Out, an essential buy on your arrival. Most of the other comedy haunts charge a fiver and don't rip you off on your beer!

Have tried a couple of those £5 places and they are not a patch on the comedy store. pint in comedy store about 20p more than normal pub prices so not exactly a rip off how many pints can you drink in 2 hours when you are there to be entertained .
London and rip off goes hand in hand same as any capital city the world over.

namsag ,thanks for that tip i think i will give the comedy store a go always looks good on sky tv. and as you said who cares about prices in capital citys, also will try boat trip thanks folks keep em coming ,by the way joe 90 going to to Monza in Italy on my motor bike to see bike racing 6.5.08 will you miss me

Mamma Mia very entertaining :D, Dirty Dancing very disappointing :(.
If you go to the ticket booth in the middle of Leicester Square you can get legit half price tickets for some shows for that day.

I use it every time I have an overnight in London ... Watch a show and finish off with a curry ... Wonderful ;)

spot on S G, also if you going for a week, buy a weekly zone 1 and 2 oyster card for £24 20p can use on tubes and buses

If you get a nice day jump out of St Pauls tube take a look at the cathedral have a walk over the millenium ( wobbly ) bridge walk along the south bank towards westminster and take a ride on the London eye, be prepared for a long wait in the queue tho P M

You could use this and book a flight (yes, I know, very pretentious) in advance. This would give you more time to Dog & Duck in Soho. The D&D, I'll have you know, is a revered pub on the corner of Frith Street and Bateman Street serving up some delectable Timothy Taylor Landlord. If you have any particular interest in bird droppings I could thoroughly recommend a stroll round Trafalgar Square. If contemporary art's yer fing then a visit to the Tate Modern is to be recommended. The builiding itself really is the canine's cobblers. The Tate Britain (trad) keeps you nearer to the spinning wheel, though. As does a peruse round the H of C. If you wish to vent your spleen - you don't have to be a butcher to do this, you know? - from the public gallery, you can obtain tickets for the Commons from your own MP, though it may require some notice.

In anycase, Billyo, have a great time! ;)
