Hi folks, I have a Grant Vortex Pro oil boiler, it's about 2.5 years old and has been working flawlessly.
A few days ago, during its morning HW burn I heard a very loud click from the boiler. I've monitored it and it's pretty consistent, and quite worrying.
The behaviour:
- The boiler starts at its scheduled time on HW cycle. Boiler starts up cleanly with a slight click from the solenoid as the burner kicks in.
- Between 5 and 8 minutes after the burner starts, the boiler makes a very loud click. Similar to the sound an RCD makes when it trips, but perhaps a little louder.
- The click does not seem to affect the burner - it continues to burn occasionally the loud click occurs after the burner has shut down (due to HW cylinder thermostat closing)
Although the performance of the boiler seems unaffected, it shouldn't be making such a loud clicking sound. It's quite hard to tell whether the noise is coming from the burner or the control panel above but I think it's from the burner.
Any ideas on what might be causing this?
