The six cylinder 2200cc Princess was slower than the same sized 4 cylinder 1647cc Renault 20.
Completely wrong.
The Princess is faster.

But, if you had any experience of these cars, and re-read my original post on the subject, you will realise that top speed wasn't the 2200's biggest advantage, acceleration and torque was.
For example, the Princess was 2 seconds quicker 0 - 60 than a Mercedes 200. A much more expensive car.
This is not what a road test reported at the time, referring to acceleration.
Someone I knew bought a new Princess, and sold it again within months. When asked, he just said: "THE PRINCESS HAS GONE!" And the Renault 20/30s were good and comfortable. I had a 30 for years.
About the Humber Imperials - were there really V8 versions? - I thought they were extra-luxurious Super Snipes with the same straight six, which was a sophisticated hemi-head engine.
