it did have a banned book theme but was more of a murder mystery and conspiracy coverup. it was the last film that Edward G Robinson was in before he died so the scene where he takes the voluntary euthanasia was particularly poignant and setting it perfectly against the music of the 6th "pastoral" symphony first movement by beethoven was sheer genius.mlb3c said:I'm thinking of one....set I think in England....around late 60's, early 70's--based on the "Big Brother" way of life.....books were against the law and police were always arresting....kind of cryptic, I know...have an idea? what the title was....I think it was a movie.
oh!......just remembered "Soylent Green"--that was my fave at the time!
Farenheit 451 Ray Bradbury was based on the banning of the written word
with firemen having the job of burning of books.
Another film with charlton heston in apart from the first Planet of the apes film (the sequels didn't do it for me) was the Omega Man great atmospheric feel to the film and a sensation of isolation.
