We have had orangery built with box gutters lined with GRP. We are experiencing leaks however, there is a hole somewhere in GRP. We have some GRP left over any ideas how to mix it and repair as we think we know where leak is?
When you say you have some left over,do you mean resin or glassfibre??
have the boxes been laminated on the inside with the rough side uppermost or are they lined with preformed GRP sheets?
If the glassfibre was laminated into the boxes with the rough side 'up' and you have a porous area letting water through..Don't bother with the glass matting.
If you can find a local GRP workshop buy some 'Gel coat' and mix with your resin 50/50 this will make it more thixotropic so it will hang onto the sides better.
Buy some acetone from the same source and clean the area being treated with it first.Brush the mixture on generously over the suspect area and beyond to fill all the porous area. The acetone will clean your brushes too.
Don't mix up too much at once unless you know how much hardener (Catalyst) to use or it will go off in the bucket before you can apply it.
