Nuke em ALL from orbit............only way to be sure!

Religion should be outlawed, period!
If people need it, then they are weak.

Faith is one thing, religion is just.....well, nonsense really. For someone to just take the word of someone else that there is an almighty god or whatever without true evidence, is niaive at the very least.
And the fear that can be struck into people who are lobotomised into believing this cr*p is beyond my comprehension. No wonder abuse of whatever nature goes unchecked in these religious 'cults'.

I mostly agree - it's the practice of religion and its pathetic ceremonies that is so sad. If one wants to believe in a god, then go ahead, but this doesn't require following any particular set of rules/laws in its name. Basic humanity, respect, empathy and courtesy is all that's required to have a good and productive life, which is true regardless of whether there is a god or not.

That's because it was ignored and kept quiet.

How very true. In my young day we had a serial child killer around here - her name was Mary Bell - but I never knew it at the time. That's because the media made a deliberate decision to hush it up "because it was about children".   I only discovered this many years later when she was released from prison and one of the TV channels did a documentary on her. What was going through their heads at the time? Was it "We don't want to spread panic." which is just about excusable or "Children don't really matter."?

Maybe it was a combination of the two. We were, at the time, not long out of a period when children really didn't matter very much. To the Victorians, they were expendable rubbish to be sent up chimneys or down mines and generally kicked from pillar to post.   Horses probably got a better deal. The NSPCC was founded in 1884, 60 years after the RSPCA!

Interesting that you should say that. I heard it not so long ago from someone more famous than any of us, namely Esther Rantzen (who, for those who don't know already, is Jewish). I can't remember what programme she was on but her words went something like this:

"If I was God, I would ban all religion. And if you ignored me I would melt the ice caps!"

Esther, you're far too nice. Melt the ice caps? Is that the best an all-powerful supernatural entity can do? I would split the Atlantic ridge from end to end and let the fire rain down upon the earth

And I think that proves the old saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Time to go.
