Guess the Band/Album

I saw this band in the 70's. They were a warm up band to Black Sabbath and yes, I still have their album on 33rpm ;)
 
Well obviously I did 'google' him so now know the answer but in the spirit of fair play I will not say what it is. ;)

You sir are an officer and a gentleman - old band I know, but couldn't think of another clue to suit.
 
Trouble is that there is only a limited number of people playing now and unless you are fully knowledgeably with all types of music then google will have to help.
 
that's because some bright sparks wanted it moved from the main forum.

I knew it would end in tears...
 
It was probaly the mods who wanted it moved,it was getting in the way of other topics that needed an eye kept on them.

'Lustre'd Timber.'

Bit cryptic I know, but it may get someone 'bark'ing up the right 'tree', and if not it may make them 'leaf' what they are doing and 'branch' out to seek out new 'roots'.

Flipping 'eck, theres enough pointers there that an African lumberjack 'fell' about laughing!

Kar is on the right track but you are also looking for a colour.

In fact if you break down one of her answers into syllables she has part of the answer in one of the syllables.
