Gutter trays?.

At least one of those trays goes beneath the felt. What's the deal with the bottom course of tiles? Did someone decide they wanted a bigger/smaller soffit?

Yeah, they got an expert in to do that tray (and the rest to the right) :whistle:

The roof tiles are totally weird. They have a splayed top and bottom corner to allow them to sit right, and the first course needs to be like that apparently and each tile is cut into a sort of triangle shape.
 
I'm guessing it to stop them being blown off before they invented
the eave clip for that model of tile!

eaves course on these double romans should consist of a plain tile course and the main tile first course bedded on to it... originally
in this case looks like they have been cut short...
