Guttering leaking where it joins with neighbour's new gutter

Neighbour replaced the guttering at the front of his house, and when it rained heavily, water dripped down on to the brick party wall below, at the guttering join. He said he would fix it.

Be careful what you wish for! Rainwater now drips onto just our side of the brick wall below, through a tiny 1cm long down spout thing in our guttering quite close to where it meets the neighbour's guttering. As you can see, the brick party wall below gets rather wet.

Our (old) guttering has these little down spouts at both ends, close to the terraced houses on either side. What is their purpose? No water drips down the one on the other side of our front guttering. What has caused this problem? How best can I deal with this leak and stop the water dripping down?

Photos attached. The last one is a close up of the little down spout thing at the other end so you can better see what they look like.

Thank you!

OP,
Did the water in your gutter previously flow over to the neighbour's gutter, & discharge there?
Pics #1 and #3 show your Ogee(OG) gutter, & the neighbour's half round gutter - its down to the neighbour to make a transition between old and new gutters if there was a previously shared single gutter.
At least, the neighbour should have made both of the new stop-ends watertight.

Can you post a couple of pics one showing the whole gutter runs over the two houses - & a pic showing your outlet at the LH side of your OG gutter?

Thank you Ree. Yes, the gutter did discharge at the far right of the neighbour's property (to the right). As you can see from the attached photo, the neighbour's new gutter appears to be positioned too high relative to ours. And what about the little discharge holes near each end of our gutter - what are they for? So, what should I do to remedy the leak?

I think it's time to modernise your gutter too. (y)
