Hi,

I'm looking to DIY built a garden room. The room will be 5m x 3m and positioned in a very clay heavy area that quite wet.

Due to this, I plan to install a 300 x 300 footing with a 365mm wall on top (sloped ground). I plan to infill this with type 1, sand, DPM, insulation, and a final concrete slab to level with the brick. On this I will build my timber framed garden room with 3m bifolds.

Question is, will a half brick, 4" wall at this height support the weight of the room, or should I make this full brick (8") for the added support? The concrete infill won't be binding to the brick as it'll have a DPM installed, so I wonder whether a 4" wall will be strong enough at 365mm high to support this, or should I just go with 8"?

Thanks
