i brought a new harddrive which was 80GB and i installed windows xp on it and when i checked C: drive it said i had 2.00GB total space! whats the problem please help?

2GB used to be the limit for partitions on older Operating Systems without large disk support.
How old is your machine and how big was your old drive?
How did you partition the new drive or was it already partitioned?

Try Right Clicking on "My Computer" and then left click on "Manage" and then locate the disk management area - the rest of the disk should appear and you can then partition the drive as required (NTFS would be my recommendation).
