Even if the bolt went into metal, there is no guarantee, on modern vehicles, the metal has any connection to chassis. The only way to be sure of a proper termination to chassis, is to find a chassis earth terminal. Often this will be tucked behind a kick panel, on the inner side metal of the front wings. A bolt with lots of other cable lugs on it.
