For me there is no alternative to Labour.

The tories work hard at demonising single mums. They also cast aspertions on everyone who, when down on their luck, has the misfortune of having to go cap in hand for benefits until they get another job. Ok i accept that SOME mums kinda bring the single mum status on themselves. But not all.

Tax avoidance by legal means is only immoral if you believe in a moral duty to hand your money over to the government. Some of us don't believe it to be because we don't see the state as some redistributionist benevolent friend. It has ceased to be for many years.

Until New Labour we hadn't had a Labour government which was stuffed full of people who were career politicians and who went into politics for the money and the connections, rather than principled people who went into politics because they believed in something.

Can anyone explain why we invaded Iraq in the first place, the fact that Blair and Bush had to resort to lies to justify their invasion means there must have been some ulterior motive which wouldn't have gained them the required public support necessary to invade.
From what i have read Saddam had a secular government was opposed to Al Quaeda and Islamic fundamentalism, maybe his opposition to Israel and his moral and logistical support for the Palestinians had something to with it.
