Head gasket husqvarna 245R need or not. See photos

Puzzled!
The damage to the new piston will be caused by the breaking up of the old big end bearing.......sending rubbish up the transfer ports in two stroke fashion.

I haven't check with any tool but looked fine. Also the original crankshaft plastic seat are still there even if in bad condition.
If its s one piece cylinder with no separate head the only way I know of is to poke some soft solder wire through the plug hole, bring piston to TDC which compresses the solder which you then measure.

Just for interest, and nothing to do with this machine...
I have had two stroke crankshafts rebuilt professionally for me in the past. Each required a new connecting rod.
One came back without an oil slot cut in the bottom of the rod, so oil could get into the rollers. It seized up in seconds.
I have to conclude that this engines demise was due to lubrication issues, especially as a new piston was needed?
