Heavy duty brenton bolt

Got one of these to use with my double doors:

I was advised to keep the bolt and keep away from the edge of the door in case it needs planing at some point. By the time I allow for this on both sides and the gap in the middle, I think it will be like this:

Doesn’t feel like much of the bolt is going into the keep.

I will use some bolts with the bolt and keep, so can’t keep shifting it around.

Can I get some help with this please. Many thanks.

Also, I need some sort of shoot bolt at the bottom of my second door. What do you recommend for this please? Don’t want it to keep sticking and getting jammed over time.

Ideally you’ll need a shoot bolt top and bottom.....also helps stop the doors from warping.
Sorry, can’t access the Screwfix site just now, but look for a heavy duty galvanised bolt with a pull handle.
