Hello, I found this forum during an internet search to try and figure out what I should do about my boiler. Hopefully I'll be glad I did because a google search was useless.

When I came to check the pressure of my boiler it was on 1 bar so I figured id add a little water to the system and take it up to the recommended 1.5, when I opened the valve to allow water into the system I couldnt hear the usual noise I hear when I do this and the pressure stayed where it was, I turned the water inlet valve off and a drip began to fall from the right hand side of the boiler, around where the inlet pipe is mounted. After a while the dripping stopped, being stupid I tried it again a couple of times last night (as if somehow a couple of hours would remedy the problem  ) to no avail. This morning the pressure reads 3 and the inlet still doesnt work, there has been some dripping in the night but I cant locate where it has come from. Ive spent the morning reading the manual and searching the internet but I havent found anything that even resembles useful, can anyone help?
thanks
db

Yuo have now over-pressurised the system, try and let some water out I'd do this at a drain cock, or a Radiator bleed valve using a container
drain untill pressure reading around the 1.5 mark.

The filling loop on your system is not part of the boiler, as this is supplied separately with the boiler and is fitted into the system by the installer, so I cannot comment about whether the loop is working or as I suspect partially blocked once the system is at the correct pressure you should remove the flexible pipe from the loop and fit the caps porvided on the valves

Sounds to me like your boiler has not had a "proffessional" service for some time so it would be a good idea to have the boiler serviced and checed by a boiler service engineer who is listed on Gas Safe Register ;)

where did you get the recommended pressure of 1.5 bar from ? it should be a min of 1.0 & 1.2 bar for a normal house
