the pdf on the vokera website doesnt have anything about an extract that i can see.......

this is for the linea 7 series which is the virtually same apart from the aps and minor details.

below any opening is 300mm according to that.

oh i see. i misunderstood his definiton of an extract being classed as a terminal.

i think thats a bit of a stretch of the imagination myself.

How can an extraction device draw air in? Get this plank to bone up on the regs, and get a CORGI engineer onsite to corroborate.

As G4Y mentioned 300mm is all that is needed.

you are making the same mistake as me.

the BC is classing the extract as a terminal. the boiler terminal then may draw in POC from the extract.

i dont see it myself.

gas hob?if badly burning high levels of carbon monoxide would be present in the exaust outlet unlikely but possible as hobs have very high rates of carbon monoxide hence the various regs concerning roomsize

As has already been suggested, get BC and a CORGI-registered installer on site at the same time. And quietly suggest to BC that they get their facts straight before being hit with a back-charge for work caused by their mistake.

It's total nonsense to suggest that any appreciable amount of flue gas from a FAN-ASSISTED flue is going to 'blow back' into a small fan exhaust grille 1500mm away, even directly above, and even if the anti-draught shutters presumably fitted on it had failed to close. Can't imagine why Vokera didn't give you immediate support. Prats!

I'm reminded of the drunk caught taking a crafty leak down the side of a pub. 'You can do that here', says the Plod. 'I'm not',says the drunk, 'I'm doing it WAAAAY over there!' Same with fan flues: the products of combustion are thrown well clear of the wall UNLESS it's into the teeth of a howling gale, in which case they'll be completely diluted by the airflow.

Will try and 'enlighten' BC tomorrow. Had another good look at the handbokk and in the definitions of terminal it is only talking about flue terminals... Will let you know how I get on!
