I'm praying there is someone out there who will read this and know what to do about this problem........ Just bought a brand new Siemens WM145493GB which was delivered yesterday afternoon. The transport bolts were removed, and it was connected up to the power and water. Before the first wash the machine must run a cycle on empty and the instructions were followed to the letter - putting 1 litre water in the drum and a half measure of detergent in feeder, set to the required programme and pressed Start. Nothing happens. Tested the water pressure which is fine, checked all the connections numerous times, and still nothing. The shop where we bought the appliance weren't interested and only suggested we get the water pressure tested - which we had already done. Any suggestions??? (By the way, considering this machine cost £700 I wasn't impressed with the pathetic one sheet of instruction manual.)

If the goods are faulty the shop is responsibile. (not fit for purpose)
Not knowing the machine, is there power to the machine?
If you are certain you have followed the instructions check out the manufactures web site, they will pobably have a help line or email address you can use.

It's connected up OK and MUST work since it was brand spanking new. Maybe there's something really simple that's been overlooked?

when you connected the water inlet pipe(s) to the rear of the machine did you remember to then turn on the small tap valve(s) at the other end of the inlet hose(s) Is there any lights coming on when selecting start wash. or any display lights at all.

The tap is on at the end of the inlet hose - if you mean the one at the supply end. The lights come on OK and when the 'start' button is pressed it stops flashing - which is supposed to mean the programme is in operation. But nothing happens after that - just silence - no noise of water on the move, no programme 'clicks' or anything.

Because lights come on proves mains is ok and if you are sure there is water supply to the machine then you can do no more. Call your retail supplier either for a new replacement or if your content with a repair on a new machine then a service call.

New means nothing

Check the door is closing properly.......I know it sounds sillY !!! But you have proved there is power to the machine and it wont do anything if it thinks the door is not closed.

Is there a humming noise? try selecting drain/spin & listen for a himming noise. Is the machine connected to a sink waste? is this a new connection? If so have you cut the end off the spigot that the drain hose is conmnected to?
