Whatever you do, make sure you got plenty of layers of something to protect the carpet down first.
perhaps some low tack 2"/50mm wide masking tape too.
It's all about the fitters plain and simple, in a commercial context such as a hotel being built for example the carpet fitter would get thrown off the job if he left this kind of damage.
Sorry to tag on to this post but anyone have any ideas what would cause this damage when a carpet was fitted today? I have been hold it was the backing of the carpet!
Unfortunately the fitter and the carpet shop owner were trying to put the responsibility onto me. I am not that stupid to believe an actual carpet could cause that amount of damage. They were very quick to say it wasn’t a Stanley knife. The fire is brand new so I have asked them to replace it. Wish me luck! Only saving grace is that I took pictures before they came.
