Help changing bell 801 door entry handset to bell xl5

Hi

Trying to up grade my phone from a bell 801 to xl5. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as have reconnected the wires to the letters matching the 801 and nothing is working. Any help would be much appreciated

This was the 801 wiring

This was the lx5. There is a V and L which wasn't on the 801

Temrnals seems to match so not sure why nothing is working onnthe xl5.

Think that phone will only work if it’s powered by a 12v DC power supply ( the 801 can run off 12 AC and DC ….AC Being the most common power supply supplied ) also they do a handset with a slider switch privacy button that works on AC ….LX-PS ? at a guess , have you tried calling the handset from the panel as it may have privacy built in , so you need to call it first , then you only have x amount of time to answer and use it
