Cheers. I assumed that but then when I measured the waste pipe that I have at home that I know is 40mm, the outside diameter was 40.5mm, so it made me question it. Thanks.
It's an overflow pipe ,it is supposed to go externally ,partly so the escaping water can't do any damage, mostly to alert you that water is being lost and unnecessarily wasted. If I remember correctly there is a regulation to this affect. I can assure you it is a total ,and unnecessary bodge.
