I fitted the new Grundfos 15-90 boost pump to the hot water cylinder output, and all went well or so I at first thought, but the large cold water header tank was being filled via the vent pipe, and this has stirred up all the clag and the water is coming out brownish.
My main first concern is how can I empty the header tank which holds about 50 gallons, I thought of syphoning but havn't got the gear, so if I tie up the ball cock and then turn on all the hot water taps will that do any harm due to the dirty water passing through the cylinder, what it's doing now anyway.
I have put a flexi bypass tube across the pump so the vent problem can wait until I've hopefully sorted the big tank.
Any help or advice most appreciated.
