First of all I offer my apologies for errors in post#10, I was running late (according to Mrs Sunray) to go out to lunch with friends and my editing all went to c**k
On the screen I was using I couldn't distinguish the brown, black, grey colours and into the dark background to the brown wires into the connector, nor could I tell for certain if the short link wire was that or 2 wires poking out from the tangle,
not helped by being beside the grey and described as '11 wires'.
My initial thought was something like this, I've deliberately shown the 3C&E in red to avoid it being taken as colours advice
However that doesn't take into acount the number of neutrals (yes I had seen 5 but my bad editing of 3 was supposed to refer to the browns in the other connector) or the 'turning the kitchen light on and off'.
THIS would:

The problem is too many variables without some form of testing, we don't even know at this time which wires in the photos are in each 3C&E.
