Help! Swapping double socket for two single sockets with a junction box

Can anybody help?

We have run two tumble dryers from a double socket outlet in our utility room for over 5 years (unaware that this was unadvisable). This weekend, the dryers stopped working and when testing the socket (fuse board had not tripped) , it was not working. Research advised i should not simply replace the double socket but install 30a junction box and run two single sockets. I have installed as per photos but the sockets do not work. What am i getting wrong here?

(i know i need to sleeve the earth wires but would this be enough to stop the sockets working?)

All wisdom gratefully appreciated.

The cable probably is powered from a nearby socket. Have you got a multimeter? Look around the room, can you see any fused spurs?

Hey, thanks for the quick response.

It looks like there is a fused spur feeding a external ventilation fan. There is also a fused switch powering the freezer which is in a fitted cabinet on on the left of the tumble dryer in the pic above. I have attached a pic below, as it looks like there is two t&e cables connected to the switch

For clarity, this switch sits on the same wall, about a meter from the double socket that sat behind the tumble dryers

It's quite difficult for a cable to go wrong.

Quite easy for connections.

Have you got a multimeter or any other testing instrument?

Nothing to do with the problem but you don't need a junction box.

You just treat the first socket as a junction box and connect two cables to it..

Managed to misplace my mulitmeter so just nipping out to get a new one from screwfix!

I do NOT think you have wired it incorrectly.

I suspect that the original fault is that the cable has no power. Need to find the source of the cable and check connections

PS While you're at Screwfix, buy some earth sleeving!

The problem isn't specifically with sleeving from Screwfix, but anything at all involving them.

Never had a problem with them, any faulty gear is replaced without question, what's your problem with them?
