Help wiring floodlight

Floodlight

Hi all.
I have new floodlight. It is live all the way. But nothing from the bulb connector terminals.

What do you mean by that?

What have you tested, and with what?

Is there a PIR or photocell as part of the light?

I can see a PIR at the base. But need to know what the assignments are of that 4-way terminal block (YOU have the instructions, we do not). And also what wires you have put where.

And as above, how and with what, have to confirmed that the LIVE AND NEUTRAL connections are present and correct.

PIR. I have tested with non contact voltage tester. Does that work on neutral? However the live is detected all the way to and past terminal block, it goes into pir sensor then out back into block and then into light.

Ps. The live red coming out from pir to block as mentioned seems not to be detecting anything?

Hi, if you connect the L from the supply in place of the red that should light the lamp. Then you will know if the pir is the problem.

Ok, thanks deadshort, I can try that. Its pi$$ing down here today so may try under tarp in a while.
I've just been over my connections in plug and at lamp, all seems fine, and matches diagram...

Hi, yes pi…down here as well. If it's a halogen the most common problem is that the lamp is not seated correctly on those pin point terminals, just check that first.

Yes, I have checked the bulb, they are both in contact.

Non contact voltage testers lie and are an unreliable method of doing any meaningful testing. Also, they will not provide any method of determining if the neutral is there, or not.
You will need a two-probe voltage tester or a multimeter to confirm that you actually have the necessary connections at the light.
