Help with Crosswater shower valve

Hi all,

We have a Crosswater shower valve with 3 way diverter that needs the temperature adjusting. In order to adjust the temperature, you have to remove the valve covers, however I am unsure about how the square covers can be removed?! I can't see any screw or anything.

Would anyone be able to advise me on how to take off the square cover?

I have tried but was worried I might end up breaking it. Does it require brute force?
