I have just bought a excouncil flat and want to remove the baxi bermuda back boiler looose the clyinder cws tanks anf f and e tank.

I am or was looking at getting northern gas or british gas but would like to get a feel for what might be the right price im going for a combi boiler which i want to oversize for better hot water flow 6 rads, both of the above offer good 5 year plans for free if you go with there installations

Any advice and what would be a good price to pay would be much appreacited

Thanks

Dave

they can (will) be expensive. get some independant firms to give you a quote ;) ..maybe someone else who lives in leicester

but best to get 2-3 quotes and dont just go on price...

ie . was the fitter friendly (for when you have to ring him up for whatever)
did he sound knowledgeable

combis have got their place...do you have the flow and pressure for a combi ?

I would say you are looking at very approx £3700 + VAT fo a good and powerful combi, if you have the water pressure and flow to get the benefit from it and also the ability to run a new gas supply from your meter to it.

Its only a two bed flat and the chances of there been two services going together are slim, i belive the pressure to be ok, i done a quick test it took 7.5 secs to fill a 2 litre bottle, double dutch to me but have been told that it was enough from some friends.
I really want to get rid of the insightly clylinder and back boiler, im thing around the £2000 mark

I was a pipe fitter welder for 20 years and a domestic fitter in the earlier eightes but serious health put pay to me doing it myself, and i have been out the trade for 6 years now so will have to pay the full wak lol

 Just re-read your post. Now see it is just a boiler change

Look around £2500 + VAT for a good and powerful combi.

I meant 2000 pound for the boiler i want the whole lot done but at them prices i might well have to do what i can and get a corgi fitter in for the gas run and connection

i estimate around the £2600 mark..supplied and fitted. remove existing system, fit trv's, powerflush etc

Think i was living in the dark ages, thanks for the advive will have to save for a while longer, even thu i work for BSS supplies still hard pushed to get a decent price

don't forget to fit a Magnaclean to keep all that dirt out of your nice new boiler. the sooner you fit it the better, you will be delighted to see how much sludge it collects, and still more when you add some X400.

Perhaps you can get a shop-soiled one ;)

Things have changed alot, i have no issue hanging the rads runing the pipework but you lot have well put me off having anything to do with the boiler, lol
dedicated gas pipe supply
Magnaclean
powerflush

If i do all the pipework am i right in thinking that i will still need a corgi tradesman to do the gas connection

There are 2 floors on my block the ground floor and my floor, the big problem i have is there are two large cws tanks in the loft joined together at the bottom if i disconnect my tank then there will be no cirulation in that tank leading to water becoming stagnent and the downstairs flat getting upset so now i need permission to alter the tanks by the councill, also the flat belows pipework runs straight through my living room in the cylinder cuboard so if i lose the cuboard im left with 2 pipes stuck in the middle of the wall its a no win situation.

Thanks for all the advice so far
