hello, i have a old roof but in good condition apart from the hips/ ridge tiles ( not sure of the correct name) basically the corners of the roof. They all need repointing but some of these corner tiles have been replaced over the years with reclaimed ones. Now i have been up there they dont all match each other and dont fit correct to each other. Im having trouble finding the correct ones to replace the ones that have been replaced with incorrect ones.

My question is, can i pull them all off and replace with a new modern type, shaped like a pipe cut in half? These look much easier to fit and look more weather proof to me. Is this a option?

Sounds like you have bonnet hips, if these have been repaired over time then the fixings have rusted and probably blown the top of the tile out.

You certainly can change these with third or half round hips (your choice)
but you may have to replace each cut tile that butts up to the existing hip to get the cover..

what do you mean by this? Do you mean the new tiles wont cover the roof tiles?

Thanks for help.

Quite simply if you remove the bonnets then the tiles will be short of the hip centre line so when you bed the new hip up you will not have the correct amount of cover..
Get a hip and see..

As previously stated I am assuming you have a bonnet type hip system. any thing else like angle hips then it will be straight forward.

A picture would be more helpfull

I've had a roofing job done after recent high winds and the roofer has left the end ridge tile overhanging the verge by 3". is there anything in Building regs about this or is this within tolerance?

It should be flush, the wind will catch the edge of the ridge and take it off..
B regs dont come into it but common sense does...
