Hello,

I previously got advice from your goodselves re: wiring a hob and oven. I ended up wiring it as below: Now the hob seems to be dying so have checked wiring and all seems o.k. but going over posts I see that some posters have recommended that 'If the installation is carried out properly, both the oven an hob should have appropriately rated fuses / MCBs for their respective loads and a local isolating switch should be provided.

So my question is would a FCU like this

-http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/switches-sockets/white-switches-sockets/connection_units/-specificproducttype-fused_spurs/MK-DP-Switched-Connection-Unit-Spur-With-Neon-White-13A-9289779?skuId=9299478

fitted between the oven and the dual connection unit - in the middle of 6mm wire going between the two - sort this issue out.

I'd like to connect my new hob in the best / safest way possible. Thanks

(Distance between CU and Cooler switch is 6m and between switch and appliances 1.5m)

Don't understand: you have a problem with the hob, but want to add a FCU to the cooker?

Unlikely the draw from the the oven will not be affected by the addition of a 13A FCU.
Does your hob work when the cooker is not in use?

Not so -

Additional fuses are not necessary...

...and separate switches are not a good idea.

How you have done it is perfect,
although you could have used 4mm² cable/flex from wall to oven and hob.

Sorry, I wasn't clear - Hob is 5 years old - and the rings are heating up unevenly / erratically - I 'm happy to buy a new one and fit that - it's just when I looked over certain info I wondered if it was safe to connect both hob and oven to cooker switch without a lower fuse for the hob. - as is done now.

I don't think that this would cause the hob not to work however, and I really just want to know how best to connect the new one up.

Thanks
