Hob Replacement

@diyer56,

I just bought the IKEA FOLKLIG, however the cable to connect to the power was not include.
My question is, did your purchase came with the cable included?
If not, which type of cable did you buy? Did you buy it in a particular place? Does it allow you to turn on all four hobs at the same time without causing short circuit?

The IKEA personnel told to buy one in Leroy Merlin. However, when I went there they told me they only had the 230 V 3X4MM, this only allow you to have two pots or hob on. If more are ON it may cause short circuit or even melt the cables.

Thank you for the help!

It's a fairly old thread.

Your information is misleading and wrong.

As in the thread 6000W @ 240V is 25 Amps.

This is the maximum current that can be drawn with all plates on.
Therefore as long as the cable can safely carry this load it will not melt.

Short circuits are caused by faults and nothing to do with the load.

However, your circuit is likely protected by a fuse or circuit breaker with a rating of 32 Amps and may include an oven as well.

So the cable should be able to carry this amount which would require a cross sectional area of at least 4mm².
If it is then the hob cannot damage it.

The instructions may call for heat resistant flex.
