The side of the hole behind the rad is irrelevant - simply brick up from the kitchen side with off-cuts of bricks and mortar - dont attempt to get a neat finish behind the rad - when the kitchen side filler stuff is set then make good to suit.
Behind the rad can be dealt with whenever.

Easy enough to isolate the rad and swing it down to allow access from both sides avoiding a bodge job.
