Honeywell EHE0200361 to Hive

I have a Honeywell EHE0200361 and the controller has finally died. The auto/manual/ off buttons don't work, I stripped it down and found residue on the board around the buttons. I cleaned it up and it worked fine for a fews weeks but it has finally died.

I am going to toss it and upgrade to Hive. I just need a little guidance on which one to get. I am fairly sure I have a heat only boiler (glow worn energy 25r) that also heats a tank upstairs for the hot water.

I was going to get the following "Hive Thermostat for Heating & Hot Water (Conventional Boiler) with Hive Hub"

I found a few threads on his but they are a few years old and there are a few new hive models and I am confused if I have a "conventional" boiler as it's spec says heat only.

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Apart from the wireless programmable room stat connected to the BDR91, do you have any further controls for the hot water timing?
I think your boiler is an Energy 25r? Which is a 'Regular' (conventional) boiler.

That's all I have. The wireless controller, receiver and boiler. And yes, it is a energy 25r.

Do you set any timings for the hot water?
Have a look around the hot water tank and see if there are any valves, controls, or a wiring centre close by.

I had a look and there is only an old school click timer for the immersion, but we never use it and it is all set to "off". We rarely need just hot water as we have electric showers. So I'm not to bother by not being able to control it separately.

Then you could simply replace the BDR91 with the Hive for combi.

Although it is intriguing whether your boiler provides any hot water at all, or if it only provides heating.
As a regular boiler doesn't have a pump built-in, there must also be a C/H pump mounted somewhere. There may be valves, controls etc. around that.

If you do want to swap the BDR91 for a Hive for combi...

The Brown wire in BDR91 L, would go to L on the Hive receiver backplate.
The Blue wire in N, would go to N.
The Green/Yellow wire in B, is a switched live - it should be marked/oversleeved in Brown and would go into terminal 3.
You would use the short Brown link wire to Join L and terminal 1.

There is a water pump under the stairs but it is only inline with no other controller.

Hive for Combi, or Hive with Heating and Hot Water?
As I said earlier, as you're only controlling the heating...

Then you could simply replace the BDR91 with the Hive for Combi.

If you have ordered the Hive for Heating and Hot Water, the wiring is slightly different, and you haven't found any wiring to connect the hot water controls to.

The other option was the combi boiler model.

Ok, you can still use it, but as you have no wiring for hot water control, you've found no valves for hot water control and no wiring centre for hot water control; then I don't think the hot water side of things is going to do very much!

Instead of the wiring I suggested earlier,
The Blue wire in N of the BDR91 would go to N on the Hive receiver back plate.
L to L
Green/Yellow wire in B on the BDR91 would be oversleeved/marked in Brown and would connect to terminal 4 on the Hive.
There is no need for any extra link wires.

Thanks so much for all your help, its probably best to have the option for a future upgrade to hot water control.
