Honestly don't know about the motion sensing, but compatibility is no secret.
The issue with Honeywell support for Evo is simple.
They don't want to deal with DIY'ers. . They only want to deal with installers that have invested time and effort to learn and push the product as they will know most of the ins and outs and ask "sensible" questions.
As one of those installers, I see their point.
