I assume it just needs a neutral back to a perm neutral inside the LG

Sorry, I'm not really sure what you mean about no neutral to switch?
If the Optima was working then wouldn't its neutral have been attached via the blue wire?

You could really do with a four core cable, it is no longer permitted by the regs to have a green/yellow wire as a switched live.
The cable clamps should also be used!

This is what I found when I opened the optima remote unit
I agree about the 4 core cable
What is. On fusing is that this setup worked with the optima before it gave up
With the live being looped to one side of the switch
But it doesn't work on the T3r
Should there not be a neutral running to the right hand connector

Can you take a picture of the white writing under the wiring and terminals of the Optima?
I suspect it will say something like NO, COM, N and L.
With the Brown going to L and a link to COM.
The Blue going to N
And the green/yellow isn't an earth connection, but is a switched live going to NO.

If you replicate that wiring on the T3R, as in your last photo, it should work.

No, there shouldn't be a neutral to the right hand connector.

I only have 3 wires coming in

Again, the green/yellow wire isn't an earth connection.
As it was in the Optima, it is a switched live - it will connect to the T3R terminal B.

This is why you need a 4 core cable...

From the thermostat
Live conneted to terminal 14
Neutral to terminal 15 and what was connected to earth on the optima is connected to 17
