Hi everyone,

My parents cooker has started to trip out the fuse breaker everytime it’s used, does anyone have any ideas why that may be?

I’ll try to include as much info as I can think below along with 2 pictures

It’s been in and working for approx 2 years and no work has been done on or near it, my mum did clean it recently with over cleaner but she always does that and it’s worked twice since then with no issues , this issue started yesterday

It’s runs for a few minutes then trips, it’s not instantly

It’s wired into a plug and plugged into a socket which is on completely it’s own run to the electric cupboard, the socket does have an isolated switch above the cooker also which I’ve pictured

The strange thing that’s baffling us though, twice last night, the switch in the electric cupboard was on but the isolated switch on the wall was off. The cooker was left doing nothing for a good 5 minutes (power off since the isolator is off) and there was a big bang and a spark came out of the isolator switch, this happened twice

With it being turned off and not in use I don’t get that

Finally we’ve pulled the cooker out and taken the back off just for a look for any leaks or anything obvious and as in the pictures the top right part of the yellow foam is all black, it’s really sticky too, no idea if that’s normal

Any ideas ?

Wires get loose in isolation switches or connections and start arcing and this causes burning and melting which will cause a trip. Can be random when not being used because it's not making good contact.
Often on high power appliances like ovens and washing machines ect.
You need an electrician to check and replace any melted connections.
