Could someone point me to advice and terminology for horizontal valley gutters between 2 hipped roofs. Here's an image I found online:

Reason I am asking is 2 fold:
1. I already have one of these on my house and I'd like to know what maintenance (if any) is required on it?
2. I have a flat roof adjacent to the above 2 pitched roofs which will need replacing sooner rather than later. I am contemplating converting it to a pitched roof (subject to planning) - but this will then introduce a second valley gutter. I'm concerned I may be introducing another problematic area for the sake of aesthetics (the flat roof is not pretty from the outside).
