Hotpoint SUTCDGREEN9A1 Dryer Not Reversing

My Hotpoint SUTCDGREEN9A1 dryer isn’t reversing. The dryer turns clockwise just fine, but when it stops periodically to turn anticlockwise, it doesn’t turn, but I can hear the heater/pump, etc still working without the drum spinning.

Can anybody please point me in the right direction? Have seen other posts on here about dryers not reversing however they seem to be older models and I’m unsure if mine has the same internals.

Jusy a guess but I would think there is a relay that controls the motor directions which is itself controlled by a timer. If yours is a newish machine then I would think it is all done by a control pcb electronically. Replacing Hotpoint boards in my experience is uneconomical but someone with experience of your model may be able to help more.

That was my fear. I think a new board was about £150. I do have a 10 year parts guarantee on the machine but I have to pay the labour through Hotpoint. If it was a cheap £20 part I would’ve paid for it and replaced it myself. If it’s the board then I’ll likely go via Hotpoint. Just trying to figure out at this stage. Thank you

Not sure about dryers but the new boards for washers often have to be progammed on site so you may not be able to replace it yourself anyway.
