householder wiring a circuit

Presume? there are a number of options.
If you are doing that, then you will need a registered electrician to notify the works, unless you were going the DIY route. See WIKI for details.

The reason I ask is the maximum MCB size you could use would be 32amp Is 32amp going to be sufficient? What are you planning to power from those sockets?

By the way, what is the distance from the house CU to the shed?

I plan to get an electrician in prior to installation
to tallk through my requirements connect both consumer units and then to test and certificate it.
distance from house approx 20-25ft
planned use:- diy power tools, lawn mower ect, no heavy duty electrical equipment
ring circuit to power 4-6 switched sockets and two flourescent lights
this installation is going into two sheds side by side with 1 light and 2-3 sockets for each shed

This hi-tuf you are planning to run from the house to the sheds, what route will it take? Were you planning to bury it, or what?

And, whilst I'm asking questions, do either of the sheds have a water supply or metal frames/structural elements?

Kind Regards, John

Hi tuf run in conduit ,along fence into shed into a dist board, no water or metal construction just plain wooden sheds1

Thanks for your reply. I was going to put a consumer unit in the shed just to be on the safe side as i will be putting in 4 switched sockets possibly more
including a pir light on a switched fuse unit.
Did you plan to get Building Regulations approval for it?

(With my emphases), this is the declaration on the Electrical Installation Certificate that you'll be expecting the electrician to sign:

I being the person responsible for the Design, Construction, Inspection & Testing of the electrical installation (as indicated by my signature below), particulars of which are described above, having exercised reasonable skill and care when carrying out the Design, Construction, Inspection & Testing, hereby CERTIFY that the said work for which I have been responsible is to the best of my knowledge and belief in accordance with BS 7671:2008, amended to 2015 except for the departures, if any, detailed as follows.

If you ask anonymous strangers on the internet to do the design, and you do the construction, how can you reasonably expect a professional electrician to say that she did it all?

AGAIN. You don't need a CU in the shed.

And lie to the council about having done the work?

Being the person responsible for the design and construction does not necessary mean that you have to be the person who carried out every single aspect of that design and construction.

And with my emphasis: I being the person responsible for the Design, Construction, Inspection & Testing of the electrical installation ..... Being the person responsible for the design and construction does not necessary mean that you have to be the person who carried out every single aspect of that design and construction.
To play Devil's Advocate, I imagine that the subsequent bit that he will bring to you attention (my {his} emphasis) is .... having exercised reasonable skill and care when carrying out the Design, Construction, Inspection & Testing ...

However, we all know (or should know) that, in many situations, is is quite ridiculous to believe/expect that the person who signs that declaration (as the person 'responsible') will actually have done all (or necessarily any) of the work referred to.

Kind Regards, John

Indeed - If an electrician has his apprentice run in some cables or fit some back boxes or swiches, does that mean that he cannot legitimately sign the certificate? That would be ridiculous.

You could always use a multi-signature form!

how can you reasonably expect a professional electrician to say that she did it all?

If we follow BAS's logical interpretation of the rules then every electrical installation would have to be carried out entirely by one person working on their own.

I being the person responsible for the Design, Construction, Inspection & Testing of the electrical installation (as indicated by my signature below)

I being the person responsible all in the singular. Not I/We being the person(s) responsible
